Other likely causes of driveway cracks are earthquake and high humidity levels but these are only worst case scenarios.

So it tends to hold more moisture thus exposing the pavement to high levels of water content.

Another important reason why should apply sealers on a driveway is to preserve the color of the pavement. The effect of the sun to the driveway will change and fade its original color from asphalt black to grayish dull.

First, check for weather news and make sure it will not be rainy for the next three days. And the best way to start sealing is when the pavement drops its temperature to 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prepare the body before any stealing process is made. It is best to let someone stronger and less allergic to the smell of asphalt sealers. In addition, wear face mask and proper gears like gloves and boots to avoid skin contact with the sealer.

Then clear the surface of the pavement from any unnecessary impurities like sand, dust and wastes. Cut off grass that is growing on the sides of the driveway. Oils may be leaking out of the car so make sure you get rid of the oil stains. Use water hose to finish off the clearing process.

Stir the sealer inside its container to properly mix in its contents. And using a brush start applying the sealer from the edges, make thin coats of the sealer and then recoat it afterwards.

After the whole area is coated, let it dry for over one day. And make sure it remain closed in this duration so as not to spoil the sealing process.
