Driveway Security

Driveway security is about protecting your family against unknown threat of intrusion. It is not just an ordinary investment but it is also your lifeline as modern homes are now more vulnerable to burglar.

One touching account of the saving potential of installing driveway security is the case of an L.A. mother. The Fourth of July is one of the best loved holidays in the United States. The picnic is the ultimate destination of most families making them leave their houses. It was during this time that driveway security alarms rose to the occasion when a mother, who was out with her twin two-year-old sons and husband on a picnic, decided to return home to get a few diapers on wheels and with her twins on board. Once she entered the driveway, she rushed immediately to the house leaving the car key hanging, her twins on the car, and the car door open. Before she could ever get back to the car, the driveway alert security buzzed and she rushed to see a bonnet-masked man fleeing from the car on his foot.

Had it not been for the driveway security, the mother’s twins would have been in grave danger. This story of an L.A. mother is just one of the many affirming experiences of household owners on the importance of security alarms in driveways. Entrance of burglary, theft and other crime threats are no longer concentrated on the backdoor as lawbreakers have now become more aggressive. In the United States, police departments agree on statistics that an unsecured house is more prone to break-in and other crimes thrice than those of houses with driveway security systems.

Installation of an entrance security alarm does not just end there. The home owner must know what is the most effective and fitting security system should be applied. Generally, among the features that most household would look for good driveway security systems are wider coverage of detection usually up to 2 miles, the capability of voice programming, doorbell rings and tones, wireless fixing, tone specification for assigned areas in the house, transmitter and receiver capability and audio visual monitoring system.

On top of the list is choice of larger detection coverage. This is very much important in houses in which the driveway is too far from the house. This usually requires a driveway security system that can cover the specific distance or range. Most modern systems already integrate whole house security extension thus it is also important to determine which part of the house or if all parts around the house will be covered by the security system.

The more widely popular among the driveway security systems is the wireless driveway security system. It is a choice of more households since it is found to be less expensive to install and is not vulnerable to burglar hacking. This type of security monitoring system uses two devices – one transmitter and one receiver. In larger installation, usually there is more than just one transmitter and receiver. The concept behind this technological security breakthrough is using infrared motion sensors to spot arriving entity in the driveway. The system will then send processed signals from a transmitter to a receiver. This will let the home owner interact with whoever is in the driveway.

This type of security system was found to be a cut above the rest since it enables the user to channel his voice therefore discouraging any threat by unknown intruders.

The receiver is capable of reaching 2 miles of communication distance. Another similar approach employed in other systems is the use of intercom that also enables the homeowner to talk with the guest on the driveway.

This wireless driveway detection technology is similar to that installed by the husband of the L.A. mother. The sensor in their security system was able to detect the unknown man lurking and sneaking into the car and buzzed to alert the mother of the danger beside her children.

Of course there are still other types of drive security systems available. There are systems that use metal detection that spot occurrence of metallic elements like car or hazardous things like knife and gun. And others use thermal sensors that inspect the presence of heat in living things. Whatever the form, the only common denominator of driveway security is to protect the well being of the family inside and even outside the house.
