Garage Plans

In some places, where they are blessed with a fair climate, household owners park their cars outside of their houses and even out on the road. With this, homeowners have no longer found car-porting use of their garages. Usually, they just change garage plans and turn them into mini fitness gym. Or transform it into something like a recreational place or as an extension of their living room.

Some however have found their garages more useful for keeping the car from unwanted heat and rain. And in most cases, homeowners have made good garage plans that fused the two facilities as their garage – a car parking area and a functional extension of the house. It is best to review garage floor plans should the owner decide to renovate it. Although redesigning the garage would seem like a good idea, re-construction would be a better option for the owner.

Consulting a home exterior designer or garage contractors will be a good way to help you recreate your garage. A lot of garage building plans are offered by many contractors and designers that can give you an array of choices in integrating workshops, recreational facility and office space into your garage.

Experts agree that garage construction can cost between $35 for every square foot. The cost will be cut in half if the homeowner decides to build or re-build the garage by himself. Constructing the garage will require the hands of at least 7 people. In some cases the homeowner will decide to consult and hire the services of garage contractors. One important thing to remember when constructing garages is never to build the garage door wall with the beam. Contractors will find it difficult to put up the garage door wall as it will become heavy.

One good way to determine a good garage plan is by having enough room for everything in the garage. Your car may have experienced accidental scratches because it has to compete with other stuff. Or if you have found difficulty finding your way to properly park the car, then maybe it’s time to update or expand the garage.

To some who have just moved in, chances are they would probably decide on changing or extending their existing garages. Some of the garages are just too small. Though it can accommodate the whole of your car, the limited spaced garage can get too crowded once you start putting in some stuff.

Good garage plans don’t necessarily have to accommodate a fleet of cars. On average, a house can have two cars on the garage. And unfortunately for some, their garages can only accommodate so much. A near perfect garage plan that can provide adequate spacing for both cars and enough room for storage places like cabinets and shelves usually is typified with a length of 26 feet and width of 32 feet. An average favorable height for the garage is 3.96 yards.

For a two-car garage, it is ideal to have individual doors for each. However if the owner decides on just one garage door, ideally it should extend 8 feet in length and span 18 feet in width. This dimension is commonly found on most commercial products available in the market today.

It is also the homeowner’s prerogative if he decides to include a separate garage door for people to pass. This approach will benefit the homeowner since he does not have to open the main garage door for entry. The setback however to human garage doors is that they use up precious space on the wall.

Garage plans should not just end on the floor arrangement. One may also consider installing windows on the wall, if permitted, or on the main garage door to allow in more natural light. This will help save energy on electric lights, however, it will deprive the owner of privacy since the windows can let other people see your garage interior.
