Well, just when you thought the garage is a dumping place for everything, think again. There are a lot of treasures you can find in the garage. You might be thinking now of garage sale! But wait. Hold your horses. Give your garage a second look and you will find, as you will agree, a little oddity in the place. Sure there is mess. And the sad thing about garages, they’ve become an all around storage. The capability of being versatile is what makes the garage an unlikely place for habitat.
So, you are considering a decent work shop in the garage. Garage sale, oh yes, garage sale. Now how would you like to have a fabulous makeover for your garage? Give it a facelift and see the great wonders you haven’t seen in that place.
Garages are said to be the most functional place in the house. And sure they are. It is a multi-purpose place. You can see paint dripping, some water hose and crowded shelves. And when things have piled up like mountain heap of trash, that’s when you think the garage is no longer a use. It’s this everything-in-one function that makes the garage populated. Starting a makeover will help you maximize the space.
And to help you with maximizing space, start your garage makeover by cleaning it. If you start seeing your car getting some limited room for porting that is because your car might be avoiding some trashes. Do not start by cleaning the garage mat. You will only get frustrated as they can only get soiled in the process of cleaning. Besides, you cannot do the makeover in just whole day. It is done gradually. However, if you would really like to do this at once, sort out which things are no longer of great use. Put unusable stuffs in trash bags. Separate those things that you think are still usable.
Then gather four large carton boxes. But make sure it’s not really huge that you can no longer pull them after being contained. Get duct tapes or other tapes for taping boxes, marker to label, cutters and scissors, and a string ball used to twine together stuffs like old magazines and newspapers.
Now it’s time to put the usable things in the boxes. You will have to sort them however accordingly. In the first box, all things that needed repair will be stored. Stuffs like old radio sets. Electric fan that needs motor rewinding and just about anything you think will cost only less if your repair them rather than buying new one. On the second box, place things that you consider usable and are great to give as donation or giveaways. In the third box, place things that you think can be of great use in the future or you can use for other makeover jobs like wood panels or cardboards. Then on the fourth box, place things that you find hard to sort. Later on, you will learn to discover their great uses.
The box that contains things to be repaired will have to be dealt soonest. Have someone or yourself deliver these stuffs to a repair shop and they should come home in good condition. Once you have sorted everything, what would be left are the tools you use everyday. Place them in one area where you can access them easily.
Using the tape and marker, label the shelves. Place lighter and not so often used things at the top of the shelves. After everything is in place, you can now start scrubbing the garage mat.
Before you forget, you must decide to whom you will give the donations. Box that contains future usable things should be sealed with tape. And by now, you already sorted the unsorted stuffs. All that is left to do now is to use your imagination in face-lifting your garage. Remember that it is always nice to see an orderly garage. So now that you have piled everything neatly, make it a habit to always put something back to its original place after use.
